| WHAT
IS THE PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP? |
The
workshop was created to teach people how to develop job aids for
workers to use on the job to complete any type of task. It
is just as effective for management and leadership tasks as
technical tasks. It was also created to help people develop
instructions for customers to use who buy their products and/or
services.

The
workshop is two and one-half days long. It consists of eleven (11)
lessons.
|

|
| WHAT
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY IS USED IN THE WORKSHOP? |
The

workshops designed by Dr. Robert F. Mager. It was designed
to "fit" with Dr. Mager's workshops offered by The
Center for Effective Performance, Inc. Participants work on
an number of their own tasks throughout the workshop so they
leave with at least four job aids they created. It is also
offered in a self-study, distance learning mode. Call for details.
|
| WHAT
WILL PEOPLE LEARN TO DO IN THE WORKSHOP? WHAT ARE THE
OBJECTIVES? |
At
the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the user (the person
who will use the job aid)
- Describe the performance
environment (the location(s) where the job aid will be used)
- Describe the task to be
performed (what the
job aid helps the user do)
- Determine if job aids and/or
training should be developed (figure out if job aids are an
appropriate solution to a problem)
- Choose the format for a job
aid (select the best format for the task to be performed)
- Select materials for job aids
(select the best materials to make the job aids out of
considering the user and the environment in which they will be
used)
- Convert written text to job
aids (take an existing procedure that is often ambiguous and
convert it into a good job aid)
- Write procedure guides (
step-by-step, cookbook type job aids)
- Write decision-making guides
(job aids that help new employees make decisions like
experienced employees)
- Write checklists and
worksheets ( job aids that help people check things, take
notes, and make calculations)
- Tryout and revise job aids
(test the job aids to make sure they work properly)
