Job aids may be the most important performance improvement tool at your disposal. New employees use them as step-by-step guides. Experienced workers use them as prompts to recall so they don’t make mistakes. Job aids include information guides, help systems, checklists, learning aids, job procedures, worksheets, job standards, and decision-making tools. Your staff can develop training faster, cheaper, and more effectively when it is based on well-written job aids.

Job aids are a highly effective way of reducing or even replacing formal training and they are much faster to develop and update than training materials.

In two and one half days, you will
acquire the skill to:

Quickly develop effective job aids for virtually any type of task – from “soft skills” to technical skills

Determine when job aids can eliminate training entirely

Describe the steps in a task including the decision - making process

Select the best format for job aids based on the types of behavior in a task

Define the environment in which the job aids will be used and the audience using them

Convert existing documentation into user-friendly job aids

Decide what materials job aids need to be made out of to maximize their effectiveness

Public Workshop Information

1. Most of the workshop time is spent working on projects. There is very little lecture. You will take home at least four completed job aids on tasks you select. Before you come to the workshop, you will need to identify the tasks and project you will be working on. We will call you to discuss your project to ensure you get the best return on your investment.

2. The workshop begins at 8:00 a.m. each day and ends at 5:00 p.m. on the first and second days. The workshop ends at 12:00 p.m. on the third day.

3. Lunch is served to the group at a restaurant on the second day as part of the team building celebration. (We like to celebrate success.) The other meals during your stay are your responsibility but there are great places to eat in Colonial Williamsburg. As a group activity, we traditionally reserve a table the first night of the workshop at one of the Colonial Williamsburg taverns, so please try to join in on the fun.

4. The investment for the 2 1/2-day public workshop is $985 per person. This investment includes all the workshop materials, morning and afternoon refreshment breaks, and lunch on the second day. Three or more people registered from the same organization and attending the same workshop workshop receive a $50 discount per person on the cost of the workshop.

5. The registration fee is due no later than 14 days before the workshop. In the event of a cancellation, a credit certificate will be issued which will allow you to attend any future workshop. Please cancel in writing. If you don’t cancel and don’t attend, you are still responsible for the full payment. Substitutions may be made at any time.

6. On occasions, due to circumstances beyond our control, a workshop may need to be canceled or rescheduled. Please keep that fact in mind when making airline reservations.

7. Your complete satisfaction is important to us. If you are dissatisfied for any reason, just return your workshop materials and we will issue you a tuition refund.

8. All the public workshops are conducted in historic Williamsburg, Virginia.

Information about the hotel and travel arrangements, etc. will be sent with your confirmation letter or you can look at the web site links below.

History and excitement await you in Colonial Williamsburg. The Busch Gardens theme park, Water Country, Jamestown, and Yorktown are within minutes of the workshop site. The workshops are planned to end on Friday afternoon so you can enjoy the weekend in Virginia.
